Insaan Ko Bedar Toh Ho Lenay Dou
Har Qaum Pukaray Gi Hamaray Hain Hussain (a.s)

Let man awaken himself...
Every nation would say that Hussain (a.s) is theirs.

Assalaamu Alaikum Parents and Friends,

" Whoever helps his brother in his time of need, Allah will be there in his time of need." -- Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)

Hurricane Harvey certainly left very few people unscarred. Directly or indirectly everyone was touch by its devastation. Many community memebers risked the hazards of the storm to help out families that were stranded and needed help. Please let us know if there is anything that IEC and we at Al-Hadi can do for those directly impacted by the storm ravages.

The school academic year too was interrupted by the storm, but by the Grace of Allah, students’ learning programs and pace are back on track. As the school year had already built in a couple of extra days, we are not unduly worried.

Please remember to join us for the Parent- Teacher Conferences on Friday, October 27, 2017.

Home and school connection is very valuable. It is important that parents stay involved and engaged with their child’s learning. Research shows that supporting your child’s education at home is vital to his/her success at school. Begin by having conversation to stay involved. Ask your child, “Let’s see what you brought home.” Look at the work to see what your child is learning and how well she is doing. Give your feedback or positive comment on her math, science or social studies project, for example (“You know a lot about State History.”) (“I see you are learning double digit addition.”). You may also ask to look at your child’s homework. Make sure to use your child’s interests as jumping –off points for activities to share.

Please be mindful of the fact that excellent attendance is vital to a child’s success. Being in school every day means your child will not miss out on learning. Try to schedule appointments and family trips outside of school hours. In addition, keep the child home ONLY if she is sick.

Set your child up for success by helping find a distraction-free study spot and most importantly have her come up with a study routine. Finally, encourage her to experiment with study strategies to find what works best.

Look forward to a great Home and School connection.

Educationally,

Dr. Humaira Bokhari

Spotlighting Al-Hadi!

Thursday, September 21st, 2017, at HISD Private Nonprofit Fall Consultation Meeting, Al-Hadi School was put in the “Spotlight”

Dr. Bokhari was invited to share her experiences and her views about school leadership, school success and student engagement. She also spoke about how effective principals ensure that their schools allow both teachers and students to put learning at the center of their daily activities and thereby increase student success.

A central part of being a great leader is cultivating leadership in others and that’s what Dr. Bokhari firmly believes in. When principals and teachers share leadership, teachers’ working relationships with one another are stronger and student achievement is higher.

We are extremely proud of Dr. Bokhari for bringing Al-Hadi in the Spotlight!

Student Council Elections
Al-Hadi students used the democratic process to elect new office bearers for the school Student Council.
The school Principal, Dr. Humaira Bokhari elaborated on election procedure, rules pertaining to election and wished the candidates all the success. Some canvassing took place before the election day. The students and teachers listened to the speeches and applauded the candidates.

Majlis e Aza
We pledge to you O' Zahra (a), we will never forget Husayn (a)
Al-Hadi school organized a majlis to commemorate the Martydom of Imam Hussain a.s and to pay condolences to his mother Bibi Fatima Zahra a.s on Thursday, October 28, 2017

Students in every grade came together reciting poetry, religious narrations, and Nohas to commemorate the events that took place in the holy month of Muharram followed by question and answer session with Mawlana Farhat Abbas. .

Imam Hussain (A) poem by Dua Batool Syed - Grade 10

He was a beacon of justice,

Amidst the darkness of corruption

A brave Imam stood,

Facing adversity and misfortune

Untethered to worldly things,

and unafraid of physical death

He gave all he had in the way of God,

Fighting until his last breath

What a man this Husain was

What patience and courage he possessed

For the message of truth he sacrificed

In the end, achieving eternal success

A tremendous sacrifice was made that day

On the sands of Karbala

The sky wept heavy tears of blood

On that day of Ashura

The flame of sorrow burns my heart

As I think of the tiny baby Asghar

Or as I visualize small, bleeding ears

Or children running from the tents on fire

All of this, Husain gave

And now, it's is our duty to remember

We must ponder on the lessons

This painful story has to offer

Never forget the bravery

to stand up and defend the truth

Remind yourself of Karbala each day

For we are the valiant youth

A message of love and justice

Radiates stunningly from that name

A sense of peace overtakes me,

As I say the words "Ya Husain"
